Siliquofera grandis, the giant from New Guinea.
They are one of the largest orthopterans, reaching up to 25 cm. Because of this, when deciding to keep such an animal, we need to provide it with a truly large space — about 75 cm in height for proper molting into the imago stage.
I consider them an alternative for people who prefer observing insects that are a bit more active than stick insects or leaf insects. The conditions they require are:
humidity at around 80%
food in the form of blackberry leaves, although apples or cucumbers can occasionally be offered
a terrarium — the bigger, the better, and it should grow along with the insect. Personally, I use plastic boxes with top-and-bottom ventilation and tulle mesh
These insects are very hardy, intensely colored, and huge, which makes them so popular.
